The
Airports
We promised ourselves we would get really, really drunk on the plane, but somehow, we never got around to it. Well, OK, Bryan, Kirsten and Deena never swore such an oath to themselves - only I did, and sadly, I didn't carry through. Perhaps on the next 18-hour flight.

The in-flight entertainment, Vegas to Tokyo to Bangkok: "The Love Letter," a crappy Kate Capshaw picture (is there any other kind?); "Wild Wild West," featuring Will Smith, Kevin Kline and the death of film; "Notting Hill," which I ignored in favor of my journal; "The General's Daughter," which I slept through. Bryan assures me it was awful.

"Once they start playing 'Amazing Grace,' and the shotgun shells fall to the ground in slo-mo," he said, "you know, for certain, that you've completely wasted two hours of your life."

Kirsten and I traded Pokemon. That was fun. And Narita International Airport is very cool.

Going back, Deena and I somehow got bumped up to business class, which was nice. That's how human beings are supposed to travel, dammit. They have little televisions in the seats, and they serve real food on real plates. Same awful movies going back, pretty much, with the addition of "Entrapment," which features little Catherine Zeta-Jones kissing her grampa, and "Life is Beautiful." It is; the movie ain't.

For some strange reason, we didn't take any pictures at all after getting up at 3 in the morning, leaving for Vegas at 6:30 a.m. Sunday (Bangkok time) and arriving in Las Vegas at 6:30 a.m. Sunday (Pacific time).
